At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that’s shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, and Equipment Monitoring. As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.

About the role:

Samsara Technologies India Private Limited is looking for a Senior Business Application Engineer I — Sales Compensation Engineering.

We are seeking a skilled Sales Compensation Engineer with hands-on expertise in Xactly Incent and Xactly Connect configuration, scripting, and platform support. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation in incentive compensation management (ICM) systems, combined with the ability to translate business compensation requirements into reliable platform configurations and data pipelines. This role partners closely with a US-based Technical Product Manager (Xactly SME) who owns the business and product side of Samsara’s sales compensation platform, with the BLR engineer as the technical counterpart.

This is a hybrid position requiring 2 days per week in our Bangalore office and 3 days working remotely. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.

You should apply if:

  • You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your efforts will result in real-world impact—helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely.
  • You are the architect of your own career: If you put in the work, this role won’t be your last at Samsara. We set up our employees for success and have built a culture that encourages rapid career development, countless opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a hyper growth environment.
  • You’re energized by our opportunity: The vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative, ambitious ideas for our customers.
  • You want to be with the best: At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together and support each other. You will be surrounded by a high-calibre team that will encourage you to do your best.

In this role, you will:

  • Own configuration, maintenance, and enhancement of Xactly Incent — including compensation plan rules, quota structures, crediting logic, draw/recovery mechanics, and payment processing workflows.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines in Xactly Connect — ETL job development, native/delta schema management (staging, history, custom tables, logs), pipeline scheduling, and sandbox-to-production migrations.
  • Serve as the engineering counterpart to the US-based Technical Product Manager, translating business compensation requirements into technical Xactly configurations and solutions across time zones.
  • Manage Salesforce CRM as the primary upstream data source — ensure accurate, validated data flows into Xactly for reliable commission calculations.
  • Administer platform operations — user management, role permissions, system settings, and end-to-end regression testing for each Xactly release cycle.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues — trace unexpected compensation calculation results back to root cause, resolve directly or coordinate with Xactly support with structured documentation.
  • Write and maintain SQL queries against Xactly’s data warehouse to support reporting, data validation, and compensation audit requirements.
  • Document system configurations, Connect pipeline architectures, and operational runbooks; maintain a living knowledge base for the FinSys team.
  • Collaborate with QA Automation to build and maintain regression test coverage for Xactly release cycles.
  • Stay current with Xactly product releases, evaluate impact, and coordinate regression testing with the PM and QA team ahead of platform changes.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • 4–6 years of hands-on experience with Xactly Incent — compensation plan configuration, rules engine, quota structures, crediting, accelerators, draw/recovery, and payment workflows.
  • Proficiency with Xactly Connect — pipeline development, native/delta schema knowledge, command-line execution, schedule management, and sandbox-to-production migration practices.
  • Strong SQL skills — ability to query Xactly’s data warehouse, write data validation and audit queries, and independently diagnose calculation discrepancies.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM as an upstream data source, including understanding of SFDC opportunity and quota data structures and their mapping into Xactly.
  • Solid understanding of ETL concepts and data integration techniques relevant to incentive compensation platforms.
  • Functional knowledge of incentive compensation models — commission structures, accelerators, SPIFs, quota attainment, and draw mechanics.
  • Analytical mindset — able to independently trace unexpected compensation outputs back to a configuration root cause without hand-holding.
  • Strong written communication skills — this role operates in a timezone-distributed model with a US-based business partner; clear async documentation and proactive updates are essential.

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Xactly Incent certification (Level 2 or above) is preferred; candidates actively working toward certification will also be considered.
  • Xactly Connect certification is preferred; candidates actively working toward certification will also be considered.
  • Experience with Xactly Analytics or Xactly Insights for compensation reporting and dashboarding.
  • Familiarity with Workato or other iPaaS platforms for broader integration context.
  • Proficiency in BI or reporting tools such as Tableau or Databricks.
  • Track record of identifying and implementing meaningful improvements to Xactly performance, automation, and data reliability.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a structured approach to root cause analysis.
  • Strong sense of ownership — you see ambiguous, high-impact problems as opportunities and drive them to resolution without being asked twice.
  • Experience working in a mid-to-enterprise organization undergoing rapid growth, where agility and pragmatism matter as much as technical depth.
  • A growth mindset — you invest in your own skills, share knowledge generously, and raise the bar for those around you.

Engineer Principal Front-End Engineer Web Platform at Canva

Principal front-end engineer leads web platform architecture and performance optimization for Canva's browser-based product, focusing on server-side rendering and modern React patterns.

Lead Hybrid Posted 1 day ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Job Description

Join the team powering the foundation of Canva’s world-class user experience.

Hey, g’day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time-consuming, and you’re probably keen to find out what’s on offer, so we’ll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work:

Our flagship Sydney campus is uniquely Canva - an extension of our Surry Hills neighbourhood. It’s a thoughtfully designed space with plenty of room to collaborate, focus, and connect.

This role is based in Sydney, and we’re looking for someone who calls it home. Our hybrid way of working gives you the flexibility to work remotely, and to come together on campus for meaningful in-person collaboration and connection when it matters most. We trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role:

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that’s all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you’ll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

Web Platform owns how Canva loads, renders, and runs in the browser. Every product team at Canva builds on top of what this group ships. Every user who opens canva.com sees the work of this team in the first few hundred milliseconds of their experience. Our ambition is to load the first page in under two seconds, and we’re not there yet. Getting there is one of the most interesting frontend engineering problems in the company.

The strategic bet is rebuilding how the web product is served. Server-side rendering. React Server Components. Reducing round trips between the client and the backend. A modern offline strategy that loads a minimal editor when the network drops. The kind of frontend architecture that takes a mature, complex product and makes it feel instant on every device a user might pick up.

There’s a second reason this work matters now. As Canva scales toward a billion monthly active users, performance becomes a defining property of the product. The architecture decisions made in this role will outlast most of the systems built on top of them.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Owning the technical direction for the web platform: Set the architecture for SSR, React Server Components, and the shape of how pages get assembled and served. Define what good looks like and bring the rest of the frontend specialty with you.

  • Performance at Canva scale: Drive the path to sub-two-second first page load. Build the measurement, the observability, and the engineering discipline that makes performance a property of the platform, not a quarterly project.

  • Influencing the broader frontend specialty: This work touches every frontend engineer at Canva. You’ll be defining the patterns the frontend specialty adopts, authoring design documents, working prototypes and migration guides that make the new architecture the obvious default. You’ll work across product orgs to shape how teams organically transition to modern frontend practices, with the credibility to bring people along rather than mandating change.

  • Leading with code, not whiteboards: Canva doesn’t have an architecture function — Principal engineers stay hands-on. You won’t ship every line, but you’ll live in the code and push commits.

  • Owning the offline and resilience story: What happens when the network drops, the device is slow, or the user is on the other side of the world. Define how the product responds gracefully across the full range of real conditions.

  • Sparring with strong peers: You’ll join a small group of Principal and Staff engineers shaping how Canva’s frontend works. The bar is high. The work compounds.

  • Influential Individual Contributor: No direct reports. But every Staff engineer in Web Platform routes their architectural decisions through you. How you operate sets the standard others reach for.

  • What success looks like. First page load times reach the bar across every device and every geography users open Canva from. Performance is a property of the platform that holds even as the product grows, not a number we chase in quarterly cycles. The patterns set by this role are adopted across the frontend specialty as the default way to build.

You’re probably a match

We’d love to hear from you if you fit one or more of these. You don’t need to meet all of them, but the more the better — and if you join the team, we’re invested in helping you grow.

  • React at depth: Not just a user of React, you understand how React is built. Reconciliation, rendering, the server component model, the hooks model. You’ve shaped React decisions at scale, ideally with open-source contributions or production work that pushed the framework’s limits.

  • Performance at scale: Driven measurable performance gains on a complex, mature web product. You know how to measure what matters and how to filter the noise. Bonus if you’ve shipped server-side rendering or React Server Components in production.

  • Principal altitude: You’ve owned problems where the right answer didn’t exist when you started. You found it through prototyping and measurement, not a design doc written upfront.

  • Org-wide influence: You’ve shipped something foundational on a mature product - a bundler migration, an SSR rollout, a rendering model shift - without disrupting the teams building on top of the platform. You cut through the noise and bring a large number of leaders to consensus on a clear and compelling technical direction.

  • Active individual contribution: You’re still writing and committing code on a day-to-day basis.

  • AI fluency: Used agentic orchestration in real work. Have a view on what changes for frontend engineering when AI is a daily part of the workflow.

Technical knowledge

  • React internals: Reconciliation, the rendering model, server components, suspense

  • TypeScript depth: Production-grade fluency, not surface familiarity

  • SSR and RSC: Server-side rendering and React Server Components in production

  • Frontend-backend communication: How pages get served, how requests get batched, where the round trips live

  • Performance measurement: Real User Monitoring, synthetic testing, the metrics that matter

  • Offline resilience: Progressive enhancement strategies for complex web applications

  • Deep fundamentals: Engineering fundamentals from a CS background, including data structures, complexity, the hard parts

Nice to have

  • Open-source contributions: React, Next.js, or the broader frontend ecosystem

  • Live migrations: Experience evolving a complex frontend product without disrupting the teams building on top of it

  • Edge runtimes: Cloudflare Workers, Fastly, or equivalent

  • Backend partnership: Cross-functional work with backend platform teams on the request/response contract

About the Group

This role sits in the Client Platform Group, where our mission is to ensure a delightful experience for every user on every device. Client Platform owns the foundations that every product team builds on, including Web Platform, Mobile Platform, and the user-facing surfaces of the product. Hundreds of millions of users sit on top of what this group ships. Every Canva product runs on it.

What’s in it for you?

Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard — and we do — but you’ll also enjoy moments of magic, connection, and fun throughout life at Canva. We offer:

  • Equity packages — we want our success to be yours too
  • Inclusive parental leave policies supporting all parents & carers
  • An annual Vibe & Thrive allowance supporting wellbeing, social connection, and office setup
  • Flexible leave options empowering you to recharge and thrive

Check out lifeatcanva.com for more info.

Other stuff to know

We make hiring decisions based on your experience, skills, and passion, as well as how you enhance Canva and our culture. When you apply, please share your pronouns and any adjustments you might need during the interview process. We celebrate all kinds of skills and backgrounds — even if you don’t tick every box, we want to hear from you!

Interviews are conducted virtually.

Engineer Lead Software Engineer, Data Platform at Viam

Lead engineer manages a 5+ person data/ML team, owns data pipeline architecture from devices to cloud, and writes code across full stack using Go, Python, and ML frameworks.

Lead Hybrid Posted 3 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About Viam

Founded by Eliot Horowitz, co-founder and former CTO of MongoDB, Viam is a novel robotics engineering platform that lets you configure, control, and manage robots intuitively and quickly. We’re inspiring a generation of engineers to solve complicated automation problems with our uniquely powerful suite of software tools.

We’re a ~100-person company headquartered in New York City.

The Engineering Challenge

Building software for machines introduces challenges that traditional software systems rarely face. Devices operate in real-world environments, networks are unreliable, and software must interact with hardware, sensors, and real-time data. At Viam, engineers build the platform and tools that make those machines programmable, observable, and manageable at scale.

About the Role

New York City (Hybrid 3+ days per week in office)

We are looking for a Lead Engineer to own the technical direction and delivery of our Data/ML function. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will manage a team, make architectural decisions, and code.

The Data/ML team owns the infrastructure that moves data from devices to the cloud and makes it usable across the Viam platform. Performance, reliability, usability, and correctness affect every solution built on Viam. On top of that foundation, the team also owns the ML infrastructure that turns that data into models: training workflows, labeling pipelines, and inference in both cloud and at the edge. Some of the interesting challenges they solve: handling an unusually wide variety of data types from devices that are frequently offline, building auto-labeling and training workflows at scale, and expanding cloud inference across multiple model backends.

Tech stack is Go and Python with a Svelte frontend, running ML workloads on GKE using TensorFlow, TFLite, and ONNX, with MongoDB Atlas, GCP, and Azure for the data layer. You will report to the VP of Engineering.

What You’ll Own

Engineers at Viam own problems from product design through production and play an active role in shaping how the platform evolves.

  • Lead and develop a team of 5+ engineers: set direction, run planning, ship reliably, and grow the team through coaching, feedback, and performance conversations
  • Write code and ship features alongside your team across the full stack, from backend infrastructure through UI
  • Own the architecture of the data pipeline end to end, from device to cloud, including storage, querying, and the APIs that power the rest of the platform
  • Drive the reliability and performance of ML training and inference infrastructure, from custom training workflows to the services that power auto-labeling and model evaluation
  • Have opinions on what gets built and how users experience it, and bring those into product decisions early

Engineer Lead Software Engineer, Data Platform at Viam

Lead engineer manages a 5+ person data/ML platform team, makes architectural decisions, and codes across the full stack from device data ingestion to cloud inference.

  • Own cross-team problems through to resolution, working closely with Computer Vision, Fleet Management, Mobile, and Solutions Engineering

What You Bring

We are looking for a technical lead with strong systems judgment and product instincts who can set direction and stay hands-on.

  • You have led engineers and know how to develop them, not just manage them

Don’t meet every single requirement? If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

Applied Intuition is an equal opportunity employer and federal contractor or subcontractor. Consequently, the parties agree that, as applicable, they will abide by the requirements of 41 CFR 60-1.4(a), 41 CFR 60-300.5(a) and 41 CFR 60-741.5(a) and that these laws are incorporated herein by reference.
